Punjabi Wolves are pleased to announce the XL Associates sponsored Rickshaw and Bike Ride from the ‘Golden Palace’ (Molineux Stadium) to Buckingham Palace on the 1st and 2nd June 2012.
To celebrate the 60th year on the throne of HM Queen Elizabeth II, Punjabi Wolves are undertaking a unique event – a traditional charity bike ride with a ‘Punjabi’ twist. The ride will feature an original Rickshaw all the way from India bedecked in red, white and blue and will have a cut-out of Queen Elizabeth II as a seated guest! The riders will also be wearing specially made cycling shirts featuring red, white and blue.
At the finishing line at the Royal residence there will be a large welcoming party consisting of sponsors, family and friends, musicians, entertainers and dancers. As the event takes place at the onset of the Diamond Jubilee holiday period there will be extensive press coverage from local, national and international media.
Punjabi Wolves are currently in training for this Rickshaw and Bike Ride and already there are over 25 riders that have registered to undertake this gruelling but very worthwhile challenge. Over the course of 2 days from Friday 1st June April to Saturday 2nd June 2012 the riders will cover some 130 miles whilst taking it in turns to ride the Rickshaw. Commencing at Molineux in the early hours on day one, Punjabi Wolves hope to complete the ride by early evening on day two.
Punjabi wolves have set a target of raising a minimum of £15,000 from this event alone because it is believed that this is the longest rickshaw ride to have ever taken place in the UK, they are hopeful of exceeding this target and you can help Punjabi Wolves reach this target by logging onto www.charitygiving.co.uk/punjabiwolves and donate as much as you can.
This year the charities that will benefit from this Rickshaw and Bike Ride, as well as from the Punjabi Wolves Ball to be held in September 2012 are Multiple Sclerosis Society, Promise Dreams (a local Wolverhampton-based charity that helps seriously and terminally ill children fulfil their wishes), Brittle Bone Society, The Haven (a local rehabilitation hospital) and Punjabi Wolves very own ‘India Project’ where homes are built for the homeless and destitute in Punjab, India.
